Morocco opened their Africa Cup of Nations 2025 campaign with a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Comoros in a rain-soaked Rabat, shaking off early nerves to claim three vital points in the tournament opener.
Backed by a passionate home crowd of over 60,000 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, the Atlas Lions were handed a golden opportunity to take an early lead when Brahim Díaz was fouled in the penalty area after just 11 minutes.
However, Comoros goalkeeper Yannick Pandor produced a superb save, using his knee to deny Soufiane Rahimi from the spot and silence the crowd.
Comoros defended deep and frustrated the hosts for much of the first half, but Morocco finally broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the restart.
Díaz, left unmarked near the penalty spot, calmly swept home a low cross from Noussair Mazraoui, sparking celebrations around the stadium.
