Rush Hour Delays in London With Train and Tube Lines Suspended

The suspension affected trains running between East Croydon and Clapham Junction into Watford Junction.
It also affected London Overground trains between Stratford and Willesden Junction into Clapham Junction.
Passengers were facing half-hour delays on top of their normal travel time as they’re asked to use an alternative route.
As of 10am the Bakerloo line between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queen’s Park and the District line are facing severe delays.
The rest of the Bakerloo line as well as Central, Circle, DLR, Hammersmith & City and Piccadilly lines are facing minor delays.
The problems on the Overground and Southern Rail were caused by a fault with the signaling system, and National Rail warned that, trains running between the above stations could be cancelled or revised.
The fault was repaired by about 8.20am, but disruption lasted until about 10am, disrupting the entire rush hour period.
Describing the incident, National Rail said: ‘This part of the network uses track circuits to detect trains. If a circuit fails, the system may think a train is still there, blocking others from moving forward.
‘Drivers must stop at red signals and get verbal permission to proceed at a reduced speed, which can cause significant delays, especially in areas with long track sections.
‘In this case, Southern are unable to run services through the area in order to allow Network Rail teams access to the route to rectify the issue.’
