Davido Pays Tribute to Late Highlife Legend Daddy Lumba At His Concert

Nigerian music star, Davido performed some of Lumba’s classic hit songs, including ‘Aben Wo Ha’, dedicating those moments to honor the highlife legend at his 5Five Alive Tour in Toronto, Canada during the weekend.

Many public figures including President Mahama, former President Akufo-Addo and Tourism Minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie have all paid tributes to Daddy Lumba.

Daddy Lumba passed on in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025 after a short illness.

A press release issued by his lawyers indicate that he passed on in the early hours of July 26.

“With profound sorrow and deep grief, the Fosu family announces the passing of Ghana’s beloved musical icon, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness,” the press release explained.

“Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives. His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience,” it added.

“During this time of immense loss, we respectfully request privacy for the family and loved ones as they navigate this profound grief. Details of funeral arrangements will be shared in the coming days,” Fati All Yallah, Esq. Counsel for the Fosu Family wrote.

Meanwhile, Daddy Lumba’s family has opened a Book of Condolence to allow well-wishers, friends, colleagues, fans, and the general public to pay their respects.

In a public announcement released on July 27, 2025, the Fosu family shared details of initial events organized to honour his memory including a vigil.

The family also expressed their profound gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support following his recent passing after a brief illness.
